This is why people block ads: Without a brain

There is a reason why people have adblockers and Outbrain or should be known as ‘without a brain’ advertising this crap:

Really, an ANZ article from stuff that is almost two weeks old? how is is that remotely relevant to me? ‘Money Expert 360’, visited it and guess what, another scam artist looking to harvest personal information with the promise of low cost iPhones with the other four being pointless crap that isn’t going to get me ‘clicking’ on them any time soon. Really, this is why online media fails because the ads they use to fund their website only work if you’re offering the reader something worth visiting over – sorry, hearing crap about a banking fiasco that is two weeks old is hardly riveting information that’ll compel me to visit stuff.co.nz voluntarily. I have no qualms about saying that I use adblocker just to avoid this sort of crap and if website owners want to get those clicks through to generate revenue then firstly they have to ensure that they have content worth a damn then secondly ensure that their ads aren’t obnoxious and are actually relevant so then your readers will be more likely to click on them.
